How to Change Your Password While Logged In
Already signed in and want to update your Landager password? Learn how to change your password from the Settings page to keep your property management account secure.
Regularly updating your password is a smart security practice, especially for an account that stores sensitive property and financial data. Landager makes it easy to change your password directly from the Settings page while you're logged in.
Who Can Change Their Password?
Password changes are available to users who signed up with email and password. If you signed up using Google OAuth, your password is managed entirely by Google — use Google's account settings to update your Google password instead.
How to Change Your Password
- Look to the top right of your screen, click your profile icon, and select Settings.
- Make sure you are on the Security tab, where you will see the Password section.
- Instead of asking for your current password, our system prioritizes security while keeping things simple. Just type in your new password, and type it a second time to confirm. Once you are ready, click Save.
- To verify your identity, we will instantly send a secure One-Time Password (OTP) to your registered email address. Open your email, find the code, and enter it into the verification screen.
- Once your code is verified, your new password is set and your account is secure. The next time you sign in, use your new password.
Choosing a Strong New Password
When updating your password, follow these guidelines:
- Use at least 12 characters
- Include a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols
- Avoid using personal information like your name, birthday, or property addresses
- Don't reuse passwords from other websites or services

How Your New Password is Stored
Landager uses bcrypt hashing to protect your password. When you save a new password:
- The plaintext password is immediately hashed using bcrypt
- Only the hash is stored in the database
- The original password is never saved or logged
This means even if someone gained unauthorized access to our database, they couldn't recover your actual password. Learn more in How Landager Stores Passwords Securely.
When Should You Change Your Password?
Consider changing your password if:
- You suspect someone has seen or guessed your current password
- You used your Landager password on another website that suffered a data breach
- You signed in from a public or shared computer
- It's been several months since your last password update
- You see unfamiliar actions in your Dashboard Activity Feed
Forgot Your Current Password?
If you can't remember your existing password and are logged out, use the Forgot Password flow instead. It uses OTP email verification to securely reset your credentials without needing the old password.
