How to Review a Screening Application
Learn how to access, review, and make decisions on submitted tenant screening applications in Landager.
When a tenant completes their screening form, the application status changes to Submitted. This guide explains how to properly review the submitted information and make an informed leasing decision.
Finding Screening Submissions
- Navigate to the Tenants page from the sidebar.
- Click on the Screening Applications tab at the top.
- Look for applications with the green "Submitted" status badge.
- Click the "View" button to open the full review dashboard.
The Review Dashboard
The review dashboard (/dashboard/screenings/[id]) organizes the applicant's information into clear, scannable sections:
Personal Information & Identity
Verify the applicant's basic details, nationality, and current address. The uploaded identity document (Passport, National ID, etc.) will be available for download or preview directly in the browser.
Employment & Income
Review their employment status, employer name, and monthly net income. Cross-reference this with the uploaded proof of income documents (payslips, contracts, bank statements).
Rental History
Check previous landlord references and contact information. Consider reaching out to them to verify the applicant's rental track record.
Additional Details
Review their desired move-in date, number of occupants, and any pets they plan to bring. This ensures their needs align with your property's rules.
Landlord Actions
At the top of the review page, you have three primary actions you can take:
1. Approve (Create Tenant)
If the applicant meets your criteria, click "Approve & Create Tenant". This automatically generates a formal tenant profile using the submitted and verified data, moving them into your active Tenants list.
2. Reject
If the applicant does not meet your criteria, click "Reject". The application will be stored for your records, but no tenant profile will be created.
3. Request Resubmission
If the application is incomplete, or a document is blurry, you can ask the applicant to fix it rather than outright rejecting them:
- Click "Request Resubmission".
- A modal will appear. Select the specific documents you still need.
- Write a custom message explaining what needs to be fixed.
- Click "Send Request".
The applicant will receive an email with your message and a new link to update their application.
Using Review Notes
At the bottom of the review page, there is a Review Notes section. This is a private area for you (and your team) to jot down thoughts, reference check results, or notes from a phone call with the applicant. These notes are completely hidden from the applicant.
