Tips for Creating a Strong Password

Your Landager account contains sensitive information — tenant contact details, lease agreements, rent payment records, expense invoices, and more. A strong password is your first line of defense.

Here are practical tips for creating a password that's both secure and manageable.

The Basics: What Makes a Password Strong?

A strong password has four key qualities:

1. Length: At least 12 characters. Longer passwords are exponentially harder to crack.
2. Complexity: A mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
3. Uniqueness: Not used on any other website or service.
4. Unpredictability: Not based on personal information that someone could guess or find online.

Do's ✅

• Use a passphrase: String together 3-4 random words with numbers and symbols. Example: Sunset-Apartment-42-Keys! is long, memorable, and hard to guess.
• Use a password manager: Tools like 1Password, Bitwarden, or your browser's built-in password manager can generate and store complex passwords so you don't have to remember them.
• Make each account unique: Your Landager password should be different from your email password, banking password, and every other service.
• Include special characters: Symbols like !, @, #, $, %, & significantly increase password strength.

Don'ts ❌

• Don't use personal information: Avoid your name, birthday, property addresses, phone number, or pet's name.
• Don't use common passwords: Passwords like password123, qwerty, 123456, or admin are the first ones attackers try.
• Don't use sequential patterns: abcdef, 111111, or keyboard walks like qwertyuiop are weak.
• Don't reuse passwords: If one site is breached, attackers will try the same password on every other service, including property management tools.
• Don't write passwords on sticky notes: Especially not on your desk where maintenance workers, tenants, or visitors might see them.

Consider Google Sign-In

If managing passwords feels overwhelming, consider using Google OAuth instead. You don't need to create or remember a separate Landager password — Google handles the authentication, and you benefit from Google's own security features.

Already Have a Weak Password?

If you're currently using a simple or reused password, update it now:

1. Go to Settings in the sidebar
2. Find the password change section
3. Enter a new strong password following the tips above
4. Click Save
