Viewing a Tenant's Lease History
How to use the Leases tab on a Tenant Profile to track their complete movement history across your portfolio, identify their current active unit, and review past expired contracts.
A tenant's relationship with you isn't defined by a single transaction; it's defined by a series of legal contracts over time. The Leases Tab on their profile acts as their complete historical resume.
Accessing the Lease History
- Open the Tenants directory.
- Click on the specific tenant's name to open their Detail View.
- You will land directly on the Leases tab.
Reading the History List
The list displays every contract that was ever bound to this specific person profile.
1. The Active Lease
If the person is an Active tenant, their currently valid contract will sit at the top.
- You can instantly see which Property and Unit they are living in right now.
- You can scan the Start and End Dates to check when their renewal conversation needs to happen.
- You can verify their legally bound Rent Amount.
2. The Historical Leases
Below any active contract, you will see their past, expired leases. This is incredibly valuable for two reasons:
Tracking Renewals (Same Unit) If Sarah Smith has lived in Unit 1A for five years on five consecutive 12-month leases, you will see all five contracts stacked here. You can click into the older contracts to trace exactly how her rent increased over those five years.
Tracking Intra-Portfolio Movement If John Doe rented a 1-bedroom apartment from you in 2022, but moved out and returned in 2025 to rent a standalone house from you, his Leases tab will show both contracts bound to entirely different Properties. This proves the value of separating the Tenant Profile from the Lease Contract.
Taking Action from the List
From this localized list, you can use the action menu (three dots) on their active lease to quickly jump to Modifying the Contract or Ending it Early, without having to hunt for it on the massive global leases page.
