Decoding the Property Detail View
A complete guide to reading and understanding the Property Detail page. Learn how to navigate tabs, view unit lists, check recent expenses, and analyze property performance.
When you click on a property from the main list, you open its Property Detail View. This is the command center for that specific building, aggregating all data related to it into a single, comprehensive page.
The Header Record
At the very top of the page, you'll see the core identifying information:
- Property Name (e.g., "The Elm Street Duplex")
- Full Address
- Property Type badge (e.g., "Multi Unit")
- Total Units count
From the header, you have quick access to the "Edit" and "Delete" actions via the action menu.
Navigating the Tabs
The Property Detail view is organized into clean, focused tabs to prevent information overload.
1. The "Units" Tab
This is the default view when you open a property. It acts as a mini-dashboard showing only the rentable spaces physically located inside this specific building.
From this tab, you can:
- See a list of every unit in the building
- Check the real-time Status of each unit (Vacant vs. Occupied)
- See the baseline Rent amount assigned to each space
- Click the "Add Unit" button to expand the building's capacity
2. The "Expenses" Tab
This tab aggregates the financial outgoing costs tied directly to this building. It filters your global expense list to only show transactions that occurred here.
From this tab, you can:
- View all localized repair costs, utility bills, and property taxes
- See the date, description, and exact amount of the transaction
- Check if a vendor was assigned to the expense
- Click "Add Expense" to immediately log a new receipt against this building
3. The "Notes" Tab
A simple, secure text area for storing internal operational data about the property.
Use this space for details that don't fit into structured fields, such as:
- Location of the main water shutoff valve
- Gate codes for the community
- Trash pickup schedules
- Preferred entrance for contractors
Note: Notes are strictly private and are never visible to tenants or vendors.
The Value of the Detail View
The Property Detail View saves you from clicking around the entire application to piece together a story. If you need to know if "Sunset Towers" is causing a cash flow problem, opening its Detail View lets you immediately see how many units are sitting vacant and scan the ledger for recent expensive repairs.
